Chhedar Bhote Lhomi and his wife are from an area of Nepal where eating beef is allowed, however in other areas of the country local Hindus refuse to eat beef. Cows are considered sacred, and must be treated as symbols of the gods. Pastor Bhote and his wife established a church in a remote area of Nepal and were working among the Tibetan people there.
In October 2012, some villagers discovered that Chhedar and his family eat beef. They accused him of killing cows, and turned him over to the Hindu committee, which had him arrested, and sentenced him to 12 years in prison. A representative of Voice of the Martyrs met with him in prison recently, and found him to be sad and discouraged. He’s worried about how his wife will be able to provide for the needs of his family, and what will happen to his children (ages 10, 8, and 7), who are constantly ridiculed and mocked by their peers.
What you can do:
Pray for Pastor Bhote and his family.
Write letters to him to support and encourage him, and to let him know he’s not forgotten:
Nakkhu Kargar Sauybu-4

Please remember to never mention the name of the source of your information, nor the name of any organization when writing to prisoners. It may bring harsher punishment to the prisoner. It is fine for them to receive personal letters from individuals. Please be respectful of their country and government, and don’t say anything negative about their homeland. You can visit PrisonerAlert.com for more information and letter writing materials.
Father, You are the Lord of all creation, and You live right there in that prison cell with Pastor Bhote. Strengthen him, support him, encourage him, and lift him up by the saving power of Your mighty right hand. Pour out the glory of Your presence in his prison cell, and let the light of Jesus shine through him to everyone with whom he comes in contact. Support and provide for the needs of his family. Lead them to a safe place to live. Bring them to a group of believers who will accept and welcome them. Give his wife the means she needs to support her children while her husband is in prison. Let Your light shine with Your shekinah glory over every member of this precious family, Father. Please bring Pastor Bhote home, as soon as possible, and pour out Your peace upon him, and each member of his family. Work among the villagers they love, Lord, and bring them to You.
