What you can do:

Pray for Yousaf’s family and friends.

Pray for the people and leaders of India.

Watch a video of Yousaf on YouTube.

Father, I pray for the people of India.  They have had so much trouble since the partitioning of their country in 1947, and there are so many injustices and hurts that still linger.  I pray that you would break the divisions that separate the people in the country and the various territories, and that You would bring healing and peace to the people.  Give supernatural wisdom to the leaders and justices.  Show them how to unify the people and bring peace.

I pray for Yousaf’s family.  They have lost their husband and father, their security and provision.  I pray that You will be their security and that You will provide for all their needs–spiritual and emotional, as well as physical.  May their roots grow deeply into Your marvelous love, so that they may display Your character to all those they meet.  Comfort them, console them, heal them, and support them as they face the new challenges of life without the family man.  Bless all the people who have been touched by Yousaf’s life, and fill them with Your peace and joy.  In Jesus’ amazing and powerful name.  Amen.

india-for-web

A small house church of in India has been receiving repeated threats from radical Hindu extremists who believe that all Indians should be Hindu, yet the group of 20 believers continues to pursue religious freedom, as guaranteed by the Indian constitution.  Pastor “Arul” was in the middle of his sermon when an angry mob entered the church, grabbing the pastor and beating him as they dragged him to a local police station.  There they charged him with “forcing conversions,” a crime in many areas of India.  The pastor sustained broken ribs, and bruises in the face, head, and chest.  “Omkar,” another leader in the church tried to intervene, but he was beaten as well.  The two men were hospitalized, and later released.  Attacks against Christians have risen dramatically in the last year.

Father, so many attacks happen every day against innocent people around the world, and there are many people who are standing against these attacks.  I pray for courage and strength for them, and for Your protection over them and over the people they stand up for.  I pray for Pastor Ramavath’s healing–physical, spiritual, and emotional.  I pray for healing for his family, his friends, and his congregation.  I pray that You, in Your usual fashion, will take what the attackers meant for harm and use it for great good.  I ask You to give these men wisdom, and forgiveness, as they deal with the radical situation in their town.  Bring healing, redemption, and great restoration to India, for Jesus’ sake.  Amen.

“Caleb”, a pastor in Uttar Pradesh, was recently attacked during a church service.  He was taken outside, tied to a tree, and beaten.  His arm was broken during the attack.  The church has often been threatened by high caste families, as they refuse to offer sacrifices to Hindu goddesses, and participate in other Hindu events.

What you can do:
Please pray for “Caleb” and the other members of his church, and all the people in his village.  Pray that “Caleb” will heal, physically and emotionally, and that he and his fellow Christians will live in such a way as to bring love and respect to everyone in their village.

Father, we lift up our brothers and sisters in India, and all around the world, who are surrounded by threats, persecution, and death.  We pray for endurance and courage, for love and peace, and that the joy of Jesus will be their constant strength.  Fill the hearts and minds of these followers of Jesus with his love, mercy, and grace toward those who fear them and are opposed to them.  Let Your light so shine, that all may see their good works and glorify You.  Father, please heal Caleb’s arm.  He may not have access to good medical care, but Your words are health to our bones.  Be the strength of “Caleb’s” bones.  Heal him emotionally, Lord.  Remove all traces of fear, and replace them with Your encouragement and comfort.  Lift him above his pain, and reveal Yourself to him in a new and deeper way.  We pray the same things for his family and his congregation.  Support them, display Your mighty saving power, and be their very present help during this time of need.  Pour out Your grace upon the villagers, Lord.  Reveal Yourself in all Your glory and kindness to them, and lead them into the kingdom of Jesus, the Son of Your love.  In His glorious name, Amen.

Champa Pawar: India

india-for-web

Jaikant Pawar and his wife, Champa, converted from Hinduism to Christianity several years ago.  They were the only Christians in their village of Balgal, but met together with other Christians in neighboring villages.  Jaikant died suddenly, and when his body was brought home from the hospital, angry neighbors got together in front of their home, yelling accusations, interrupting, and stopping his burial.  The Christians who had gathered for the burial ran away when they were attacked.  The District Collector later intervened, recovered Pawar’s body, and returned it to his wife.  She was able to bury him in her own village.

Champa, Jaikant’s wife, is in the first trimester of pregnancy.  Please pray for protection, provision, and direction for her as she faces life in a hostile environment on her own.

Father God in heaven,
You are the ruler of all that goes on in the village of Balgal, and the surrounding area.  You have promised that You will never leave us nor forsake us.  Please pour the power of Your presence over Champa as she makes decisions that will affect the rest of her life.  Provide her with a safe place to live, the fellowship of other believers, and a means of support for herself and her child.  I pray that her baby will develop normally, receiving all the nutrition and nurturing needed to bring it to full term.  I pray that it will live a life of complete devotion to You, that it may know You from its earliest days, and that it will be Your planting to display Your splendor.  Comfort Champa will all hope, and lead her in the age enduring way of Jesus, the Savior of the world.  In his powerful name, Amen.
